The Hip-Hop Research and Education Fund and PowerPAC will convene an 
unprecedented National Turn Up the Vote Youth Summit live from the 
University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA.  Hip-hop icons and 
community leaders will issue a statewide and national call-to-action 
encouraging every 18-35 year old to participate in the Pennsylvania 
primary on Tuesday, April 22 and go out to the polls in record numbers

co-founder of PhillyCarShare and a Penn Alum, will follow the film.

the European Union (Cambridge University Press, 2006) and European 
Governance and Supranational Institutions: Making States Comply

New York Times*
/Elisabeth Bumiller is a reporter for The New York Times who covers 
politics and policy in the nation's capital and the author of a 
forthcoming biography of Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. From Sept. 
10, 2001 to 2006, Ms. Bumiller was a Times White House correspondent who 
also wrote a weekly column, White House Letter, about the people and 
behind-the-scenes events of the presidency./

PIW, which organizes speakers, mentors, and networking events.

*Summer Institute for Research on Race and Wealth*

The Summer Institute is a two week program for students (undergraduate 
or graduate) who have completed a paper, such as a senior thesis, honors 
paper, graduate course paper or a master's thesis, on a topic related to 
racial inequality or wealth.  The goal of the program is to provide 
promising students with an opportunity to refine a piece of research 
that focuses on racial inequality or on the distribution of wealth in 
the United States.  Participants will receive support for their travel, 
living expenses and a small stipend.  *Applications are due May 16, 
2008*.  To apply, please send a writing sample, 2 letters of 
recommendation (with one preferably from an instructor who supervised 
the writing project that the student hopes to extend while at the 
program), and a brief cover letter describing your interest in the 
program and the work you hope to do while at the Institute.  Remember to 
include your summer address and e-mail in your application, so we know 
where to contact you if you are accepted. Please send an e-copy of your

*Asian-American Action Fund's Political Empowerment Internship*We are 
looking for a bright, sincere and politically savvy intern to spearhead 
our business and communications strategy. Our intern will be based in 
LA, and will be flown to DC to help with our June 10 Gala. Our Political 
Empowerment Intern will have 3 main responsibilities:
(a) Spearhead AAA-Fund's business and media strategy;(b) Help coordinate 
our June 10 Gala and other AAA-Fundevents; and
(c) Write regular blog pieces, newsletters and press releases.ur 
Political Empowerment Intern will receive a summer stipend of $1000. We 
ask that our intern start in mid-May, and devote at least 10 weeks on a

You will help identify and collect important daily regional press clips, 
establish contacts with domestic and international press agencies, and 
help prepare documents to be posted on our website.  As a member of our 
intern staff, you will also help perform central office duties including 
sorting and distributing mail, answering phones, greeting visitors, and 
leading tours of the Capitol.  Most interns will also have the 
opportunity to assist staff with legislative research, constituent 
correspondence, and event preparation.  Fluency in Spanish is a plus but 
not required. Excellent research and writing skills are a must as well 
as the ability to work under deadlines. Resume and cover letter 
required.  In your cover letter, please list the dates you will be 
available as well as the days and hours you will be in the office.
