*Chris Myers Asch: Co-Founder, U.S. Public Service Academy*

/The U.S. Public Service Academy is a national initiative to build a 
civilian counterpart to the military service academies. Modeled on the 
military academies, the proposed Academy will offer four years of 
tuition-free education in exchange for five years of civilian service 
following graduation. The initiative has earned the support of more than 
110 members of Congress and two presidential candidates, and it has been 
highlighted by Time Magazine as one of the top ten ideas the next 
president should embrace to reinvigorate civic life./

Internships

 

*UNITE HERE*

UNITE HERE is offering a six week, paid internship for passionate 
student and youth leaders who will spend their summer in the struggle 
for justice.  Internships are available in San Diego, Los Angeles, San 
Francisco/Bay Area, Seattle, Chicago, Indianapolis, Rochester, Miami, 
Baltimore, Northern Virginia, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Northern 
New Jersey, Boston and Toronto.  The Hotel Workers Rising internship 
will run in two sessions: June 2nd-July 11th, 2008 and July 21st-August 
29th, 2008.

*Stipend $450.00/week.*  Participants are responsible for their own housing.
